Monday Night RAW: Results and Photos for September 17th, 2018

Backstage: Drew McIntyre walks in the back. Dolph asks how is he doing. Baron congratulates Drew on his victory. It is one down and two to go. You beat up Dean and Baron says he will beat up Roman. He says the Universal Championship deserves better. Baron asks if Dolph is going to invoke his rematch clause tonight. Dolph says he fell off Hell in a Cell. Baron says that Seth isn’t even here and if he invokes his rematch clause, he gets the title be default.

Backstage: Dolph Ziggler talking to Baron Corbin. Dolph says Baron told him that Seth wouldn’t be here. Baron says that Rollins lost last night. Baron tells Dolph he will win tonight. Dolph turns around and sees Seth Rollins. Dolph tells Seth if he wants to back out he can. Seth says that he will not back out and he is ready for a fight.

Seth Rollins versus Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship
Ziggler with a kick and side head lock. Rollins with a clothesline. Rollins with an Irish whop and Ziggler shows the damage done to his back. Rollins shows the pain as well as he is Irish whipped into the turnbuckles. Rollins comes off the turnbuckles and feels the pain in his back. Ziggler goes to the floor and Rollins chases gingerly after him. Ziggler drops Rollins on the top rope on the apron. Ziggler knocks Rollins off the apron and into the ringside barrier as we go to commercial. We are back and Ziggler pie faces Rollins and tells him to do something. Rollins with punches followed by an uppercut and running back elbows. Ziggler with an Irish whip but Rollins gets his feet up and hits a blockbuster but he feels the damage to his back. Rollins with a clothesline into the corner but he runs into a boot from Ziggler. Rollins goes for slingblade but Ziggler with a sleeper and he gets on Rollins’ back.

Rollins escapes and he goes for a belly-to-back suplex but Ziggler lands on his feet. Rollins holds on to the ropes on a Zig Zag attempt. Rollins with a rip cord knee after blocking a super kick. Rollins goes up top but Ziggler crotches Rollins. Ziggler with a punch and he goes up top for a superplex but Rollins escapes and Ziggler is crotched. Rollins goes for a reverse superplex but Ziggler with punches to knock Rollins to the mat. Rollins leaps to the turnbuckles for a superplex into a Falcon Arrow but Ziggler counters the Falcon Arrow into a rollup for a near fall. Rollins with Black Out for the three count.

Winner: Seth Rollins

WWE Raw Tag Team Champions Drew McIntyre & Dolph Ziggler vs. WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose

Lots of good intensity in this one. McIntyre came off like a killer while facing off with Rollins. Ziggler almost scored a pin with a big DDT. Ziggler and McIntyre worked over Rollins a lot early on but Rollins kept surviving the onslaught. Ziggler began berating him, which sparked some Rollins offense. Ziggler jumped on his back with a sleeper. Rollins dropped down to one knee but fought back to his feet. He tried to make it to his corner but Ziggler raked his face to stop it. Rollins tossed him off his back and fought to make it back to his corner to tag Dean Ambrose. McIntyre went to attack but was tossed to the floor by Seth. Rollins went for the tag but Drew attacked Ambrose and knocked him off the apron. McIntyre worked over Seth, who finally made the tag but the referee missed it. They mauled Rollins in the corner as the referee argued with Ambrose. The crowd really got into this, going nuts as Seth was being beaten in the corner. Really cool old school tag team psychology here. Ziggler went for a superplex but Seth blocked it and knocked him off. Ziggler went to recover and attempt another but was knocked off again. Drew was tagged in but was nailed with a top rope blockbuster. Rollins finally made the hot tag and Ambrose went nuts with stomps and clotheslines.

Dean went for a jacknife pin on McIntyre for a two count. He scored several additional two counts but Drew kept escaping. Ambrose went to the top rope but was attacked by Ziggler. Dean went for Dirty Deeds on the apron but was blasted off by McIntyre. He reversed a whip into the ringpost, sending Drew into it, then nailed Ziggler into the barricade. Dean came off the top with an elbow but McIntyre caught him and sent him into the buckles with a belly to belly suplex.

Rollins hit a dive to the outside on the Tag Team Champions but they caught him. Before they could do anything to retaliate, Ambrose hit a tope onto everyone and everyone crashed down to the floor. Back in the ring, Ziggler nailed a Falcon’s Arrow on Ziggler for a two count. Rollins missed the curb stomp. Ziggler went for the Famouser but was smashed into the corner. Seth covered him but Drew broke it up at two. Ambrose attacked Drew. Tons of near falls until Ziggler nailed a Zig Zag but a CLOOOOSE two count.

McIntyre was tagged back in. They were setting up for the Claymore Kick/Zig Zag combination but Ambrose pulled Ziggler out of the ring. McIntyre was caught with a superkick. Rollins nailed an awesome top rope frog splash but McIntyre kicked out the last week. Seth and Dean went for a double superplex on McIntyre but Ziggler got involved. Seth missed a dive to the floor. McIntyre wiped out Dean, clotheslining him off the top into the ring.

Drew held Ambrose in an Electric Chair position while Ziggler went to come off the top but Dean nailed him. McIntyre and Ambrose crashed to the floor. Seth jumped on the turnbuckle and went for a superplex. Seth went for a pinfall but McIntyre returned with an awesome Claymore Kick and Ziggler scored the pin.

Winners: Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre.

In Ring: Braun Strowman makes his way to the ring and he is joined by Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre. Braun says he has something for all of you to see before he speaks and we see what happened last week when Braun found two new friends. Braun says that is what he calls justice. He says he tried to do this face to face, monster to man. He told Roman Reigns he would look him in the eyes when he cashed in his briefcase. All Roman had to do was accept his beating and accept his fate. Roman had to get his brothers to put up a shield around Roman. Braun says that without Dean and Seth, the Universal Title would be his. With them, it would not happen. Braun says he does not care if you like it or not. Roman says he has a pack of his own now and he will show you that this is his yard.

When they are locked in a place no one can get in or get out, he will dismantle you. He will break you down and he will take what is his, the Universal Championship. Drew says he wants everyone to take a moment and look at them. Drew says the Shield has had their time, but now it is over. You are looking at the new Kings of the Jungle and they are going to feast on their bloody carcasses. Dolph says they will be the most dominant force in WWE history. More dominant than the Nation of Domination. More dominant than Degeneration X. They will be more dominant than the Shield. They are going to leave you laying, embarrassed, and decimated. You started this but we are going end it.

The Shield’s music interrupts and they make their way through the Classic concourse entrance. Baron Corbin sends the roster to the ring to go after The Shield and since they attack one at a time, The Shield takes care of all of them. The Shield get on the apron and then Baron sends the rest of the roster to stop The Shield and they have the same result. All six men get in the ring and they pair off. Even more people come to the ring as the brawl continues in the ring. They are finally separated but Rollins and Reigns get free to show that even wrestlers are as ineffective as security and referees. Braun, Dolph, and Drew are outside the ring and held but Roman, Dean, and Seth have nothing in their way. Dean, Seth, and Roman, after seeing a wall of wrestlers, break through and head for the endzone.

Backstage: Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler, and Drew McIntyre enter. It is a shame that the Shield got arrested but they are here for competition. Dolph says they are not asking and this is their show now. Dolph says he cannot invoke his rematch clause so they want a tag title match. Baron says that the Revival already have a match.Drew asks what happens if the Revival are not good to go. Baron says if that happens, he will have to make other arrangements.

The Revival are in the interview area. They are asked about their comments from last week. Scott says everything they said was the truth. Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler attack Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder. Dolph and Drew walk in the back. Continue reading

Dean Ambrose (with Seth Rollins) versus Dolph Ziggler (with Drew McIntyre)
They lock up and Dean with a waist lock and take down. Dean with a front face lock but Dolph escapes. Dean with a side head lock take down. Dolph goes to the floor to regroup. Dolph goes for the leg and Ambrose with a front face lock. Dolph backs Dean into the ropes and Dolph pushes Dean. Dean pushes Dolph to the mat. Dolph with a kick and punch. Ambrose with chops. Ambrose with a back elbow for a near fall. Dean blocks a hip toss and then he slams Dolph. Drew grabs Dean’s ankle and Dean goes to the floor but Seth holds Dean back. Seth has some words for Drew while Ziggler drop kicks Dean off the apron.

We are back and Dolph with a sleeper on Dean. Dolph with a kick to the knee and then he slaps Dean a few times. Dolph misses a clothesline and Dean with clotheslines of his own. Dean with kicks in the corner. Dolph with a double leg and he uses the ropes for leverage but the referee sees it. Dolph goes for a ZIg Zag but Ambrose holds on to the ropes. Dean catches Ziggler and hits a fallaway slam. Dolph drops Dean on the top rope but Dean blocks a super kick. Dean catapults Ziggler into the ring post. Dean charges into the corner but misses and hits the ring post shoulder first. Seth gets between Dean and Drew and Drew takes off his jacket and dares Seth to hit him. Seth is not one to turn down a challenge and he punches Drew. They exchange punches and then Dolph attacks Seth from behind. Drew and Dolph send Seth into the ringside barrier. Dolph with a kick but he misses a FameAsser. Dolph avoids the double underhook DDT. Rollins comes through the ring and hits a suicide dive onto Drew. Dean counters a hesitation DDT into a double underhook DDT for the three count.

Winner: Dean Ambrose

Dolph Ziggler vs Seth Rollins – Intercontinental Championship Match
Feeling out process to start, they go to the floor and Drew gets a little too close to Seth, and Dean backs him off. Back into the ring where they continue going at it without either man able to get much of an advantage. They head back out to the floor and all four men have a standoff before they go back into the ring and Seth gets the advantage. Dolph takes over and begins working the knee over, but Seth starts to mount a comeback, and a suplex sends both me over the top to the floor. Back in the ring and Seth makes the babyface comeback, hitting a blockbuster for 2. Seth goes to the top, but his knee slows him down and Dolph is able to nail him and go for a superplex.

Rollins fights him off with a headbutt and goes for the frogsplash, but Dolph rolls to the other side of the ring, so Seth decides to clothesline him to the floor and hit a dive instead. Back in the ring, Seth hits a springboard clothesline and a ripcord kneestrike for 2. Seth quickly escapes a sleeper attempt, but Dolph snaps his neck down on the top rope. They wind up on the apron and Dolph shoves Seth into the post, then hit a leaping DDT on the ring apron. Yeowch! Seth blocks a Zig Zag, hits a superkick, and comes off the top with a frogsplash…but Dolph gets the knees up and quickly cradles…for 2! Close fall there. Dolph goes back to the bad knee and tries a Stinger Splash, but Seth blocks and dumps Dolph on the top rope.

Rollins runs to the top and hits an INVERTED SUPERPLEX, then ROLLS through and hits the Curtain Call, but Dolph is STILL out at 2! Wow, just wow. The crowd is on their feet for this, and rightfully so. Seth tunes up the band as Drew rams Dean into the steps, distracting Seth long enough for Dolph to hit the Zig Zag and cover…for 2! They trade O’Connor rolls for 2, then Seth powers Dolph up into a buckle bomb, hits it, Drew is up on the apron, but Dean pulls him down and hits Dirty Deeds on the floor. Dolph goes for a superkick, Seth sees it coming, dodges, and hits one of his own, then a curb stomp finishes it.

Winner: Seth Rollins

Backstage: Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre enter and he mentions that we are waiting for Seth Rollins to arrive. Kurt mentions that Seth had some travel issues coming back from China.

Backstage: Kurt Angle is on the phone and he is trying to get in touch with Seth Rollins. Dolph and Drew return for an update on Seth’s travel plans. Drew says that Seth is afraid of them. Drew says if Seth does not sign the contract, then the match won’t be official. Kurt says that Seth will be there. Dolph wants to look at the contract to make sure that everything is okay.

Backstage: Dolph and Drew are back. Kurt asks if the contract is satisfactory. Dolph has an issue with the provision that Seth can have someone in his corner. Kurt says since Drew will be in Dolph’s corner, Seth gets to have someone in his corner. Dolph is okay with the provision.

In Ring: Dolph Ziggler’s music interrupts and he makes his way to the ring and he is joined by Drew McIntyre. Dolph says we know that Seth isn’t here so let’s get this over with. Drew says you cannot suspend Brock because you have already lost one title match so you don’t want to lose another one. Drew says that Kurt will probably prop up Roman.

Dolph asks if he will still have to defend the title on Sunday. Kurt introduces Seth Rollins but no one comes out. Dolph says we all know that Seth is not coming out. Drew says that the ‘travel issues’ are probably that Seth cannot get away fast enough. Dolph says Seth was a great champion but the focus is on WAS. Since he cannot beat them, Seth quit. Drew says they respect Seth Rollins. They formed their alliance to stop the complacency. You have to outwork everyone around you to grab that brass ring. Some of you think by being on Raw, you have made it. Seth tried to prove that he was the best every week. That made him and Dolph work harder. Continue reading
